Meet Miauwling Oei

I’m beyond grateful to be alive today.  I was gifted with the experience of hitting rock bottom on January 13, 2012 and seconds away from taking my own life.  In that moment, I felt the deepest love from within me and realized that suicide is not the answer.  The month of January, especially on the 13th day holds a special place in my heart for the past ten years.  Every year, on the 13th of January I spend a solid few hours with myself reflecting on how amazing it is to remain alive.  

In 2022, I’ve reached a milestone year.  It’s my 10th year anniversary of celebrating my life.  If someone told me 10 years ago that in 10 years, I would’ve reclaimed myself, become a coach to guide others to embody their integrity, write my story about self-reclamation and get published in a multi-authored book entitled Lineage Speaks, I probably would’ve laughed so hard in disbelief. The book became an International Bestseller on Amazon within 24 hours and later received the 2022 International Impact Book Awards. Watch Lineage Speaks book trailer.

Today I am a motivational storyteller, bestselling author, kundalini yoga teacher, dancer and alignment coach. As an artist, I weaved the technology of kundalini yoga, katonah inspired yoga, the art of gratitude, sensual movement, and law of attraction into an experiential and immersive workshop.

My dedication and joy in my work organically manifested a breathing technique that I coined The Convergence Breathwork Method. It was a reawakening of something that was buried and forgotten about deep inside and Miauwling unearthed it.  It didn't even have a name, until the end, it was my sensuality. I felt alive, youthful, vibrant and happy. It was something that was missing in me for so long that I had forgotten. Miauwling invited us to partake according to our own level of wanting to join in, at our own pace and most of all, she allowed us to be as creative or not with our movements. This released our inhibitions and the meditations allowed us to re-familiarize ourselves, with our real buried self. Buried layers from within me were released during the dance. Miauwling first introduced me with her "instant 5 minutes" meditation which is great for a beginner like me. After trying it, I began to liking it and since then, I have been guided regularly by Miauwling through a variety of meditation and Kundalini Yoga. Every session is different and customized personally to me. There is always an "unexpected fun" attached to each session. It is not only just a variety of movements from Kundalini Yoga, but also self-reflection through journaling, doing a silly touch me dance or a small game/quiz, which I find fun and interactive.


What I like the most from Miauwling is that she is very passionate with her teaching and always keen to help achieve each individual goal. Practicing meditation and yoga for about 3 months by now, my body feels lighter and more flexible. I used to have stiff muscles around neck and shoulder, but they all have gone. My respiratory system has also improved, I am no longer exhausted easily like I used to. These all have led to enable me to have better sleep. I wake up in the morning full of energy.

As a full-time college student and sister of Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority Inc., it’s not easy to find free time. When I have free time, I tend to use it to catch up on a show or comic. I forget that with free time you’re also able to catch up on yourself. The 5 minute breathwork reminded me of the need to catch up with myself.

Initially, my goal was to relax and clear my mind from the previous busy week. I’m happy to say that I was able to achieve that after practicing the breathwork.  I learned the importance of breathing when it comes to meditation. I was quite surprised when the breathwork left me almost as tired as a workout. I realized my lung capacity had the potential to grow. Since that afternoon, I find myself using the breathing techniques as well as the exercises when I have some free time in order to quickly catch up with myself.

I’ve never realized the intricacies of breathing. After doing the 5 minute breathwork, I’m more aware of my own breathing. When focusing on breathing, I’m able to feel the effects on my body. I can tune out the stressors of the world and find some clarity in breathing and mentality.  I learned that meditation is a more dynamic activity than I had originally thought. It's more than just sitting with your eyes closed and breathing. While it can soothe the mind and body, some exercises physically challenged my endurance and stamina.

It was from these exercises that I was able to work on my personal strength and resilience. No matter how tough things got, I knew I had to keep pushing through.  Body insecurities has been something I have struggled with for as long as I can remember. I loved and enjoyed how meditation with Miauwling incorporates aspects that promote empowerment and body positivity. The more intimate activities that involves touching our own skin has made me more comfortable with my body.
